I don't want to chat!

I've had a Facebook account since 2007 and on the whole I'm big fan of the service. I find it useful and informative when it comes to friends, family, and beyond.

I also get quite annoyed when people complain about trivial changes to the service like updates, changes to terms and conditions etc. For me, change is good - I embrace it.

However, one thing I wish they would change is the online chat feature. In a nutshell, I don't like chat - I don't want to use it. I find it extremely intrusive and irritating and I don't want to interact with people in this way. It's just my personal preference. It's simply not for me.

So I choose to Go Offline and turn off the chat feature. From time to time though, Facebook randomly seems to place me back online and this is extremely annoying.

This is only an issue if I use Facebook on a PC or Laptop browser. Maybe I should just stop using Facebook on these devices!
